Arnold and Lou are back! This time, our favorite duo is taking kids on a fantastic journey around the world, allowing young bookworms to learn all about the most important landmarks, to try amazing recipes and crafts, and also to discover various cultures. From science experiments that will leave kids wowed to basic words from diverse languages, this book truly has it all! Fun facts are accompanied by amazing illustrations, created by the author herself, so you are in for a truly wonderful reading experience.
My opinion:
Arnold and Lou are our favorite duo, with the first book in the series, “All in a Flap”, being one of my daughter’s preferred reads for bedtime. We were so excited to discover the second book and had the time of our lives reading it. As the cover already points out, this book is meant to help kids explore, learn, and create. I quite agree and I think it does a wonderful job in opening their minds to the big world out there. In German, there is a word, Wanderlust, which describes the desire to travel and see everything. Well, if you are going to teach your kids about this feeling, the book here presented offers the perfect opportunity.
The thing I liked the most about this book is that it makes learning fun. Packed with interesting information, it brings together the fun of discovery with exploration and creativity. Kids can travel to countries like Iceland, Turkey, and France, learning about famous landmarks, foods, cultural aspects, and so much more. There are delicious recipes to be tried, experiments to be enjoyed, and words to be learned. What a fantastic reading experience all in all! My daughter was fascinated with the book, being drawn to the language part, but also showing curiosity for the experiments. Now, she is making plans to travel to all the countries presented in the book.
The illustrations are beautiful, making the reader feel like he or she has actually traveled to the said destination. It is nice to be accompanied in your travels by dear friends, like Arnold and Lou, my daughter said, and I was quite in agreement. I love how much thought the author has put into her book, how amazing it is to see a book that offers so many things at once. At the end, Arnold and Lou are looking at the different places they’ve seen, feeling equally proud and happy of the adventures they had. This sums perfectly how we feel about traveling and I am glad to have this book, so I can show my five-year-old the difference that comes from seeing more of the world.
Verdict:
What a wonderful book to have in our home library! I am happy to see such beautiful books brought into the world and I never forget to thank the authors for pouring their souls into their works. The second book in the Arnold & Lou series offers interesting facts, fun science experiments, delicious recipes and so much more. It draws the reader right in, proving once again that the feeling of Wanderlust is created within the pages of a book, with both parents and children dreaming of all the places they are going to see together. A brilliant read, one to which we will return over and over again. Highly recommended!
