[Book Review] Linger, When You’re Gone, [Author] Chitra Padmana

A psychological thriller chock full of suspense and intrigue, softened by elements of romance. The story of a powerful woman, whose uniqueness influences her destiny and the one of those around her.

My thoughts:

I liked how the author centered her story around a strong female character, giving her a peculiarity: hyperosmia, a heightened sense of smell. As we find out from the book, “For Miris, her keen sense of smell has always been a blessing and a bane”.

Throughout the book, I followed her thrilling journey, starting with the mysterious death of her best friend. The story was peppered with unexpected twists, and you could sense how much the author worked to create a web of terrifying secrets, leading you in a dangerous direction.

Perhaps the thing I appreciated the most was the way in which the author managed to keep me drawn to the story. I kept turning the pages to find out what would happen next, enjoying the delicate blend of suspense and romance. Aside from the main character, I liked Sam and Saira, but you will have to read the book to find out who they were.

Strong points included: powerful female character as the lead, crisp narrational style, and accurate descriptions of mental illness. The plot was intriguing and the characters well-written, and I was pleasantly surprised at the author’s complex imagination. At the same time, it was an emotional story.

Verdict:

If you are looking for a psychological thriller to keep you entertained, you might want to give this book a try. The unique blend of suspense and romance will keep you drawn to the story, and you will certainly enjoy the spectacular ending. Also, what a cool idea to choose poetry for chapter names. Overall, a good read!
