An exciting introduction into the world of car racing, with a story that blends elements of mystery, thriller, and adventure. James Bond has nothing on Stirling Speed, a retired racing driver who will find himself at a crossroad, having to decide on the consequence of broken trust.
My thoughts:
I loved the way the author constructed the story, offering us, the readers, a bit of everything. At the center, you will find Stirling Speed, a retired Formula One World Champion race driver. He enters all sorts of entanglements, dipping his toes into a world that is both adventurous and material.
What will happen to force Stirling to go back to racing? You will have to read the book and find out. It was great to read a book in which the main character decides to face his archenemy, revealing to what broken trust can lead to. The trail of the story was easy to follow, but also exciting, and I found myself eager to know what happened next.
Even if you are not a fan of race car driving, you will most likely fall in love with the detailed descriptions from this world. The author has done a superb job into showing the universe of a racing driver, including when it comes to the various cars he might use or the locations he might reach. From Monte Carlo to Nürburgring, you will definitely appreciate the descriptive storytelling.
Verdict:
This is a fun and exciting book to read! I loved the adventurous pace at which it was written, and how well-developed the characters were. If you are looking for a genuine page-turner, this is it. While reading the book, I felt like I was right next to Stirling Speed, discovering one amazing car after the other. A book that will definitely capture your interest!
