The second book in the series, The Dark Crown, offers an interesting reading experience. Readers will be drawn to the exceptional world building and the incredibly diverse characters, enjoying themselves in the process. Best of all, the story will continue, so you have something to look forward to… the final battle!
My opinion:
I enjoyed the first book in the series, and I was excited to see the story continued. The author delivers a story that has everything, including a unique world, interesting characters, and plenty of twists and turns. I would advise other readers to not be scared by the length of the story, but rather perceive it as a long journey worth taking.
Without giving too much away, I am going to tell you a bit about the story. Rebahzi has ascended the throne, and now is she the Queen of Amitiah. As life has it, her path will cross with Sadie, who has run away from Genai. There is a prophecy involving Sadie, but I am going to let you discover this part on your own. The story also introduces us to Clementine, a god who has been banished from his home. Learning about the prophecy, he will make plans to stop his father and make amends for the past. What will happen in the end? You will have to read the book to find out.
This story is perfect for those who enjoy books in the fantasy genre. Filled to the brim with action, it also offers an equal dose of intrigue and suspense. The characters are complex yet flawed and you cannot help but relate to them, feeling like you are part of the story. The author did a great job in portraying their strength and determination, inviting the reader to become part of the ultimate story of good versus evil. War and blood, victors and losers, betrayal and sacrifice… there are so many things to discover and explore in this book.
Verdict:
Life is never black and white! I loved this quote from the author, and I think her story proves this point to perfection. A story of good versus evil, one that shows it is worth fighting for your beliefs, without giving into the darkness. The kind that draws you in, causing you to turn one page after the other, just to find out what happens. Excited for the next book in the series!
