[Book Review] Amara, [Author] Tristan Hutchinson

A captivating horror story, with elements of suspense, thriller, and sci-fi. The author has interwoven the perfect blend between true-crime and fantasy, offering the reader an opportunity to step outside his/her comfort zone.

My thoughts:

I found the story to be interesting, a true page-turner. The author has created a powerful main character in the persona of Aaron Wolfe, a detective who wakes up in an unfamiliar place. He doesn’t know how he got there, and most importantly, what happened.

The mystery gains momentum as one goes further into the book, and you cannot help but want to find out who is responsible for an entire town being slaughtered. Expect a bloody read, but one in which the author has done an excellent job in creating an atmosphere of lingering fear.

Why is Wolfe unable to call for help? And where is his partner, Jaclyn? You will have to read the book to find out. The detective will engage in a race against time to solve the mystery and shed light on what happened, trying at the same to clear his name as the main suspect of the murders.

Verdict:

This story is like a rollercoaster, offering a wild reading experience. It blends elements from different genres, which is a huge plus. However, I liked that the horror concept remained at the center. The main character, detective Aaron Wolfe, is well-constructed, carrying the story to an exciting point. An exciting read overall!
