The book is a prequel to “Buku: A Dystopian Thriller”, and it presents the story of Micah Landing. According to the author, the books can be read in any given order.
My thoughts:
Buku are lab-made creatures, with the purpose of saving the world. But, as the author puts it, “who will save the world from Buku?” In this prequel, we are introduced to Micah Landing and Dr. Givens, who were both involved in the development process.
Micah gains a sense of accomplishment by helping Dr. Givens, seeing him as the man who changed the world. However, not before long, he will come to realize that something is not right. Everything he knew about these massive creatures is wrong.
Once again, the author has crafted an intriguing story, with an exciting blend of elements. The character of Micah is wonderfully-written, and I loved how much effort the author put in the description of locations. As with the first book, I thought how great it would be to see this story turned into a movie.
Verdict:
The author does an incredible job at weaving SF stories that are exciting to read. Micah’s story reflects on the entire Landing family, who incidentally were the first ranchers who were given a contract to raise buku. I appreciated the prequel, as it gave me the opportunity to dive further into the dystopian universe she has created. Great read!
