[Book Review] Double Trouble, [Author] Dr. Sohil Makwana

The second book in the series is written to impress, with a chilling account of murders and a thorough investigation achieved by an interesting inspector, Komal Rathod. The readers are introduced to modern forensic investigation techniques, which are described in detail. Will the inspector be able to decode the mysterious Two Blue Dots? You will have to read the book to find out!

My opinion:

I read the first book in the series, and I was curious to discover what the second had to offer. Even though the book could benefit from further editing, I think the author did a great job in creating intrigue over the sadistic killer. There is a lot of mention about forensic investigation methods, including DNA phenotyping, so the author must have done a lot of research to this purpose. It was interesting how the action unfolded gradually, starting with the hidden message left by the killer.

The inspector is one of the best contoured characters and I liked how she used his experience to track the killer. Her mission is, of course, to save the next victim, provided she will be able to understand the modus operandi of the killer. The book takes the reader on a rollercoaster experience, full of adventure and thrills. I appreciated that it was connected to the first part, showing the growth of the main character, the inspector. She is powerful and fearless, showing perseverance in pursuing the killer at all costs.

If you like crime thrillers, then you should definitely give this book a try. Be sure to read the first one as well, as it will help you follow the storyline. The book has plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested, and it will be impossible not to come up with your own theories about what happened. You might notice that the book ends with a cliffhanger, which means that we might see a new book in the series. There are a lot of interesting facts about human psychology and forensics, so this read is anything but boring.

Verdict:

The sequel to Murdrum was an interesting read, especially since it contained so much information on modern forensics. I would have liked for the book to be better edited, but I am sure this is something the author can work on. The story delivers a good crime thriller, with a strong main character and plenty of action to keep the reader interested. I am already curious to discover what will happen in the next book.
