A gothic romance written in a fast-paced style, with a gripping storyline. The story is not predictable, and it offered the perfect blend of different styles.
My thoughts:
“If I Hadn’t Met You” is a short but entertaining read, one with plenty of twists and turns. The life of Tisha Mathur will take an unexpected turn on her 18th birthday. She will encounter a ghost, Ambika, who will request her to fulfill her last wish. Without giving too many details away, I want to say that the journey to helping Ambika might also unravel the truth behind her death.
Ghost stories usually tend to have a direction that is clear from the start, but not this particular one. Ambika is looking for her lost mangalsutra, which is an Indian wedding chain, and she is relying on Tisha to fulfill her wish. Things do not happen as the reader might predict: after Tisha disturbs Ambika’s peace, she will decide to take control of her mind and body. What will happen? You will have to read the book to find out!
Verdict:
I liked the fact that the story offered a bit of everything: mystery, romance, paranormal. The introduction of a young man, who will help Tisha discover the lost mangalstura, was a nice surprise. This is the kind of story that shows the truth can never stay hidden, and how there will come a day when we will have to pay for our mistakes.
