[Book Review] Poet’s Pond: Volume I, [Author] Neha Jain

Enter the world of poetry to discover an anthology of beautiful poems. The present volume enchants from the first page, being the perfect choice for those who love the written word and poetry in particular.

From people who have already discovered their meaning in life to those who are just starting their journey, the poems included in this book will enchant and delight every step of the way.

I found the poems to be pleasant to read, and I liked how diverse the approached themes were. Each creation has a divergent leitmotif, the most common ones including family, friendship and love. The reader will also find poems dedicated to more pragmatic themes, such as politics, child labor or religion.

The poetic universe hidden between the pages of this book will take you on a journey of emotion. You can read poems about women and their dreams, and many others about freedom, making memories or dealing with insecurities. Each poem invites to introspection, forcing you find the answers to important questions.

These were some of my favorite verses:

“Never ever stop/Thinking you are a daughter/You are the reason of my laughter” (Daughter)

“No one is happy/Seeing you climb the stairs of success/They will just find ways/To make you feel depressed.’ (Jealousy)

“Just think twice before you choose your friends/Each one should make you dream big and stand” (Friendship)

“Reading stories makes us learn lessons” (Feeling of getting lost in a book).

My favorite poem was “A trip to Pangong Lake”, as I can relate to the ideas of the author about nature and what an important role it plays in our lives.

“World’s highest saltwater lake/Gives each one a lot of memories to make” (direct quote from the poem)

There is even a small poem that centers around the recent events, meaning the corona pandemic. I liked it very much, especially since the author referred to the outbreak as a “blessing in disguise”, highlighting the fact that “nature will heal itself without any surprise”.

Verdict:

An interesting collection of poems, which will make the perfect gift for poetry lovers. Enjoy this book next to a cup of tea, using the quiet to reflect on the diverse themes approached within its pages.
