[Book Review] Poetry that Moves You, [Author] Randall Daniels

A collection of poetry which inspires and delights at the same time. Written in rhythm, it takes the reader through various themes, some of them designed to provoke, while others deliver a short but sweet moment of enlightenment.

My thoughts:

Modern poetry is wonderful to read, as it has a unique kind of fire behind it. In this collection, I was able to discover an author who was proud to pour his soul onto the paper. His poems approach emotions we all get to experience, ranging from love and triumph to tragedy and sensuality. In-between, the reader finds inspiring quotes, guaranteed to pave the way towards self-improvement and growth.

I really enjoyed reading these poems and their diversity was certainly a strong point. As someone who loves poetry, I am always interested in reading the works of new writers. With each poem, I travel alongside the author, becoming part of his writing journey. This is definitely the type of poetry collection worth adding to your library, delivering contemporary poems you will easily relate to. Thought-provoking and yet lacking pretense, they come together to offer a message of encouragement.

The voice of the author is strong and his poems clearly reflect the topics he is passionate about, the ones that make his soul come alive. Written with passion and vivid emotion, they deliver a refreshing reading experience. I loved the beautiful dedications at the beginning of the book and how the author was honest enough to acknowledge that he “yearned” for his mother his entire life. My favorite poem was “Who’s That Girl”, as it had a subtle nostalgy that spoke of love, passion, and loss at the same time.

Verdict:

This was a wonderful read, a collection of modern poetry that made me feel like I was talking to an old friend. A fine example of contemporary poetry, it encourages the reader to embark on a journey like no other. Well done!
