[Book Review] Tears of Me, [Author] LaToya Martin

A beautiful, emotional collection of poetry, which will take you on a journey of the human soul. The poems included in this book will remind you of the things we share as people, and how poetry can help us cope with difficult moments.

My thoughts:

Modern poetry has a unique style, and I am grateful to all authors who decide to express themselves through versification. This collection, despite approaching hard-to-process topics, has left me with a message about positivity. These poems bring comfort and healing, reminding us of the power the written word bears. As the author says, we can look at them as “rays of light” but also as a reflection of herself.

I appreciated the fact that she decided to explore a wide range of themes, and I found the whole collection to be inspirational. Through her poems, she approaches universal experiences, including depression, illness, unconditional love, family, emotional turmoil, childhood, loss, grief, and Heaven.

Written in the style of free verse, the collection delivers an outpour of emotion. I felt like I was looking straight into the author’s soul, analyzing the various glimpses from her life. I always find that poetry represents the key to emotional connection. Her poems prove that we all face the same issues. By writing about shared experiences in the form of poetry, the author establishes a meaningful connection with her readers.

Verdict:

If you love reading poetry, I encourage you to give this collection a try. You will be positively impressed with the diversity of emotions transmitted, and I can guarantee you will adore the simplicity of the language used. Poetry doesn’t have to be delivered through complex words in order to reach our soul, and I applaud the author for choosing to express her feelings through these beautiful poems.
