[Book Review] Welcome to the Campfire, [Author] Askhay Chougaonkar

A beautiful collection of poetry, which brings together universal themes, such as nature, nostalgia, love, music, and internal conflicts. The author cleverly invites readers around the campfire, where they can share both feelings and experiences. A comfortable warmth envelops the reader while diving into this collection, reminding one of the reason why poetry is worth our time. Poetry remains the number one weapon we have against the cruel passing of time and everything it brings.

My opinion:

I love discovering new authors and poetry always holds a special place in my heart. I happily accepted the author’s invitation around the campfire, enjoying the poems included in this collection. It always surprises me how inspiration comes from the most unexpected places, including from a fleeting interaction we have with the world around us, as the author wonderfully describes his work. The things we all share, yet often overlook… they serve as the backdrop of great poetry.

Reading poetry is one of my favorite pastimes, as I can meet the author’s thoughts and emotions halfway. In this collection, as I already mentioned above, I have read poems written about nature and music, but also nostalgia and love. Internal conflicts are reflected in several poems as well. Most of them invite to a tranquil contemplation, taking the reader to the point where great meaning and depth are found. Perhaps the most beautiful thing about this book is that it invites readers to pay more attention to the little pleasures of life, something we all forget to do from time to time.

We all know that poetry is the most sublime form of human expression. If you love nature, I am sure you will find some of the poems included in this collection to be perfect for you. They are beautiful and might bring back memories of precious moments. With the help of sensory language, the author introduces the reader to wonderful creations, and one cannot abstain from getting lost in a world filled with emotion.

Verdict:

This was a beautiful read, and I am glad to have discovered the collection! Every time I discover a new poet, I feel richer, as the poems presented on the page become dear to me, like friends I just met. This poetry collection has a lot to offer and I hope everyone will give it a try!
