[Book Review] Granny Put a Pumpkin on Her Noggin, [Author] Becci Murray

Granny is one of our favorite characters and we are always excited to discover her latest adventures. This time, poor Granny has to deal with a stubborn pumpkin, with the entire family helping her solve the latest conundrum. The perfect read for Halloween, it offers the perfect blend of humor and coolness, and it reminded me of why we love Becci Murray. She has a unique style, both in terms of writing and illustrating. My daughter loved this rib-tickling rhyming picture book, and I am sure other kids will like it just as much.

My opinion:

Poor Granny! She has done it this time, putting a pumpkin on her noggin. Who would have thought that it would get stuck? Now, Granny needs help! Fortunately for her, if that can be said, the entire family gets involved. The more they try to help, the more complicated things become. This is a strange Halloween indeed! As I read this story to my daughter, I could not help but laugh out loud, this story is so good, offering quality humor. I think it is perfect not only for kids, but also for adults, who have their own families, who like to “help”!

If you are looking for a Halloween-themed book to read to your child, then you have found it. The book is hilarious from beginning to end, and it will definitely appeal to your sense of humor. Granny and her pumpkin are the stars of the show, but we must give credit to the rest of the family, people who have nothing but good intentions. I think the Granny stories would be excellent for puppet theater, as the comedic chaos is just sublime. I absolutely love the sheer absurdity of the situation!

This funny story is brought to life by wonderful illustrations, which are done by the author herself. They are so amazing and vivid, and I confirm that I could recognize her trademark style anywhere. As an adult, I am sure you will also recognize how excellent the writing is, with the author playing with so many different puns and wordplay. It is a real treat, authentic Halloween candy, if that can be said. Granny has struck again indeed, and I have to admit that this is one of my favorite stories.

Verdict:

With Halloween just around the corner, I think this is an excellent book to read. My daughter is six and she absolutely loved it. She laughed and laughed, and I think that Granny gave her some ideas, she might attempt to put a pumpkin on her head as well. Kidding aside, this book offers some quality humor, and it comes as proof of how immensely talented Becci Murray is. We love the Granny stories, and we are looking forward to the next one in the series!
